Does anyone know how a man's mind works?

I've been w/ this guy for 6 mo. I am in love w/him and he is fully aware of that. However, he claims that he won't let himself love due to him being in trouble w/the law and not knowing how long he will be gone. I can't help wondering if his feelings would be different if he wouldn't be going through this. Even though he claims not to feel the same right now, his actions tell me a different story. He is so sensual, loving and caring when we're together. He even called me Hon the last time we were together. Is that a good thing? I want to believe so. There is so much more i could elaborate on but not enough room and people don't read the long stories. So basically i just want to know why a man can tell you he feels one way, but act totally the opposite. Could he really have feelings, but wants to wait until he's done w/ court so that we can have a relationship? I'm not giving up on him so that's not even an option. Thanks
